During his USDA career, Keith planned and managed natural resource and economic development projects and provided USDA programs and technical expertise to Soil and Water Conservation Districts in 1/3 of Iowa’s southern and western counties.
Keith learned about the presence of radium (source of radon) while working with soil science colleagues mapping Iowa soils in the 1970’s -1980’s. The highest average radon concentrations in the United States are found in Iowa. Keith had his Bondurant home tested for radon concentration in 2012. A radon mitigation system now effectively manages the radon level for a healthier environment.
